CVS 411

CVS, by far, is one of the best stores in our area to get great deals. This 411 section is going to explain how to get great deals at CVS.

Step One
You must obtain a CVS Extra Care Card to earn rewards. Listed below is an explanation on how you earn rewards based on CVS’ website. You can apply for a CVS Extra Care Card in-store or on-line. If you apply in-store you can start using your card immediately.

Earning Rewards –
~Earn 2% back with every purchase in-store and online (prints at the end of your receipt – every 3 months)
~Earn 1 Extra Buck for every 2 prescriptions purchased

Other Ways to Earn Rewards In-store –
~Get instant savings on items featured in CVS’ weekly store circular (can be found on-line/in-store)
~Earn Extra Bucks on select brands advertised in CVS’ weekly store circular (prints at the end of your receipt immediately following the end of your transaction)

Extra Reward Card Benefits –
~Special offers print at the end of your receipt throughout the year
~Sign-up online with you Rewards Card and get special savings through your email
~Scan your Rewards Card at a Coupon Center for extra savings (located in the front of the store - typically on an end-cap of an aisle)

Step 2 - Accumulating ECB
There are some initial start up costs in order to accumulate Extra Cash Back (ECB). If you look at the three examples listed below you will see how much money you would pay Out of Pocket (OOP). Once you accumulate ECB you can use them instead of actual money. My goal is to always come out of the store with the same amount of ECB I went in with or come out of the store with more. To come out of the store with more ECB than you went in with you need to find the MoneyMaker Deals.

Step 3 - Getting Cheap/Free Stuff & Making money
Part 1 - Getting Cheap Stuff
~Dawn Dish Liquid 10.3oz = 2/$2 - (2) $.25 coupons from P&G 6/7 = $2/$1.50 OOP
CVS Flyer states that if you buy 2 Dawn Dish Liquid you get $1 ECB.
So it's like paying $.50/2 = cheap stuff

Part 2 - Getting Free Stuff
~CVS 22 Ct. Pantiliners = $.89 OOP
CVS Flyer states that if you buy 1 pack you get $.89 in ECB.
So it's like getting $0/1 = FREE

Part 3 - Making Money
~3/$10 Post Cereals - (3) $2 Coupons from Online = 3/$4 OOP
CVS Flyer states that if you buy 3 Post Cereals you get $5 in ECB.
So it's like you are getting paid $1 to buy all 3 cereals = Moneymaker

Step 4 - Other things to know
~Multiple Orders - sometimes you need to split your items in half and check out at the register two + times during your visit. You may need to do this because you don't have enough ECB to pay for one complete order. If you split the order in half and use the ECB you have to match your OOP price then when your receipt prints you will have more ECB to complete your second order.

~Multiple CVS Cards - you may want to consider using two + CVS Care Cards. If you have more than one card you can get double or triple the rewards, sales, and free stuff. To get another CVS Card have your husband or parents sign up for a card. If someone you know has a CVS card, but doesn't use it, ask them to have a key-chain card to use for yourself.

~Cash Off Coupons - are obtained through emails from CVS, on your receipt after a purchase at CVS, and by scanning your Care Card at a Coupon Center in-store. You may receive the following coupons... $3 off $15 - $4 off $20 - $5 off $20 - $5 off $25 - $5 off $30 - $4 off $20 - $10 off $50. These coupons can sometimes help you make a free deal or make money.

~Stacking Coupons - CVS has their own magazine called "Reinventing Beauty." the Magazine costs $.99 and typically contains $25 worth of coupons for CVS only. You can use this coupon along with a manufacturer's coupon on one item and get a really good deal.
